us-224 or us-122 ??

My good friend is talking about getting a us-224 or us-122...

does anyone know which would be better and why?

He has a laptop that he plans on using and was gonna buy a much smaller 'portable' thing, but has decided to get something more 'professional' for use with the software i have like cubase and etc...

so far the only difference i can tell is something to do with slider controls that affect the software with the 224. any opinions, advice? any comments appreciated

I've got the US122, so I looked at the 224 on Tascam's website. It looks like they took the 122 and packaged it with a control surface. The control surface interfaces with the recording software. The software has sliders, and start/stop/play/record buttons. You can move and push the buttons in the software from the 224 instead of using your mouse. This might be handy when you're using a laptop, but it's a little bigger.
