Okay.

Hey guys.

I bought a tascam us-1800 the other week, and it arrived today. I put in the driver disc, and followed the instructions. However, after the part that instructs you to put in the USB, it says it failed, and gives me error code 0x0006.

I've downloaded the latest drivers, but it still fails. Any ideas people of the Internet??

Thanks
Bill

I Switch it on, when I plug in the USB, as per the instructions...

Any other ideas?

Sorry, had to start with the obvious. :)

Is this used? Have another USB cable to try? Is it connected to a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port? Sure you downloaded the correct driver for your computer? What is your computer?

No worries. I've done some stupid crap before haha.

Okay.
Yes it is.
No I do not have one with me. I have one from my Pro Tools fast track thingy, that I could try.
I assume 2.0. I've never heard of 3.0, and my laptop is maybe 2 years old, so I guess it's 2.0/
I did. I tried the one on the disc, and downloaded both 32 and 64 versions (just in case) and the 64 one was the same as the one on the disc.

And it's a Dell Inspiron M501R.

Any more ideas?

Try the cable first. Hopefully the unit isn't bunk. It should be recognized.

Sure man.

Is there anything common in a household where I could find one, because my other one is at home, and I'm at my dad's this weekend.

If I can;t get one to try it, i'll have to wait a week :(

Okay man. I'll go and hunt for one. If it works, I'mma rep every one of your posts here =)

EDIT:
GAHHHHHH. Not working. Any other ideas?

Not looking good man. Does Widows recognize a device when you plug the 1800 in?

It does. It pops up in like the bottom left hand corner saying
'Installing driver device'
Then after say a minute
'Driver Device installation failed' (Or something similar)
And then i get the error in the Tascam installer...

Sounds like a bad interface man. I wish I had a better answer. :(

Okay man.

I'll wait for Tascam to get back on customer support. But You deserve rep anyway :)

Thanks man! Sorry I couldn't find a better answer. Usually the 1800 and it's drivers are very reliable, and easy to install. Maybe there is something screwed up with the firmware in the unit, that Tascam can help with. Hope you can get it figured out.

I don't own one, but I installed one last week for a friend. You must install the Tascam drivers BEFORE you connect the unit to USB. See #1 on page 10 of the manual.
