I want to put samples of my music on to my website. A short 20 second grab wav.file is about 1mb. What is the best way to go about this?

What exactly is the problem?

mp3-encoding or uploading? Something completely different?

David

The problem is probably MP-3 encoding as I have not tried that. Do I need special software??

Have loaded program and converted wav. to mp3. Much smaller file. But I get an error page on the web when I try to hear the sample (this page can not be displayed) any ideas, and thanks for your time.

So you have converted it to MP3?
Does it play on your computer before uploading to the net?
Where are you uploading it to?

Yes it plays in Windows Media player OK. I used a ftp to upload it to our website which is a free site hosted by tripod. Once there I can not get it to play in either the website or the web managing site. This page not available comes up although the adress and links are right.

Whats the link?

I would try converting it again and uploading that to see if it works.

Whats the (kbs) sample rate of the file?

I have never used Tripod to host anything, but when I visit site of people that are hosted with them I find that its only about a 50/50 chance that the site will show up.

two things...

1- Does Tripod allow mp3 files? 'Cause some providers don't.
2- Tripod sucks when it comes to downloading large files. I once had a mix up on a tripod site and posted it in the clinic, and nobody was able to download it. The file was there, but the download interrupted.

The site is
neptunerising1@tripod.com
the only song linked to MP3 is on the index page as The Boomerang Cafe and the link is

If tripod is a bad free site, do you know of any more worthwhile?

It said something on the error page about the "remote loading policy". I would check it if I were you. Maybe you can't have .mp3 files up? Beats me. But anything thats free is nothing to complain about. Try Angelfire. I think they have the same unreliable situation, but it can't hurt to have two sites if they are both free. :D
