Unplugging your mic

i Have a bluebird mic. i have owned it for over a year and have left it plugged in 24/7 because i record everyday. I recently heard that i should unplug the mic every time i am not recording, which seems like a pain it the butt! what do i risk by not unplugging it and would unplugging or turning off my MBOX be the same as unplugging my mic?

If it's the blue bluebird condensor. I'd turn It off.
Not all electrical componants have an indefinite lifespan.
Besides which I'd want to store it in a dry safe place with a little silica gel bag to keep the capsule dry.
Just my two pence.

Most eclectic gear fail happens on the turn on/off.
