Hi guys!

Well my equipment till now is this(not great but i plan to upgrade it!)

Mixer/4 track tape recorder Yamaha MT4X
Keyboard Yamaha PSR E223
Digitech RP100 Effects for Guitar
Vestax USB interface for connection with PC via USB (it has 4 RCA in/out) and USB
I have some PCs, a lot of them so i can use them as DAW or whatever i want if i want them to do music too (i prefer not to, cause i am little more analog guy! but now i am experimenting...)
I have a bunch of microphones with small jack/nothing XLR, nothing special in fact
And other stuff in here....like guitar, amps....and so on...

So i am a DIY man so i like to know the principles very well, so i guess i am a little confused with these!

Every instrument/mic/input i can put on my mixer/multitrack recorder is mono right?
Everything from keyboard to effects processor?! I am a little bit confused about mono/stereo stuff when recording and before mastering/mixing or whatever, so i am asking to understand how things really work

My multitrack recorder has monitor out, stereo out, aux send and aux return and 4 inputs on it.

The Effects processor has in/out

The keyboard has only phono out which i have to use to connect to the mixer

The USB interface i use to send stuff to the PC if i want and use it on Audacity or a DAW software if i want to.

In fact if using a PC to also output something, like sounds, i would use my soundcard as output to put on my mixer, now again i am confused, since the soundacard is stereo...

So as you can see i am a little confused on how to input/output my stuff.

For now i am using these:

- Multitrack recorder gets Mic/Keyboard and PC sound card on inputs and then i use the Aux send to send to the input of Effects Processor which outputs to the Aux return as i want to have a chance to use effects on any input i have!

Finally i use my Hifi amplifier as a monitor (so i use monitor out) (i know its not the same...but is better than nothing) and the stereo out to the USB interface which outputs for the headphones for me to listening to the result!

Confused?! So do i!

Thanks!

Yeah, mixer inputs are likely mono.

To patch your soundcard output into the mixer get a 1/8-inch stereo to TWO MONO 1/4-inch cable.

Actually, when you say soundcard do you mean the Vestax or a PCI-slot type? If it's the Vestax you will need RCA > 1/4" MONO cable.

Soundcard is really the PCI slot soundcard i have on PC and the USB interface its the Vestax
