can someone atleast give a review of the mic. is it the best for vocals?
The general opinion around here is that USB mics are fine for podcasting/spoken word work, but really just too low quality for serious recording applications.
This comes from the fact that you have a microphone, preamp and A/D converter all contained in a single body for $100.
Though there are a range of options out there for each of these components (microphones, preamps, and converters) at every price point, you don't normally see many high quality recordings made with any components from this list that cost $100 individually (with the exception of a few studio staples like the Shure sm57 microphone).
So when you combine the three together into a single $100 unit, you're looking at (on average), a $33 mic, a $33 preamp, and a $33 converter.
Most people on this site, while always looking for a bargain (it is home recording, after all), generally don't expect very good results from equipment costing that much.
Just the nature of the game that most times the more you pay, the better it sounds.
And since many of the people who post here and aren't recording professionally (ie making a profit off their recordings) can't really afford to waste money on items that won't help their sound in any way, experience tells many of us that $33 spent on a mic, a preamp or a A/D converter could be better saved and spent on a higher quality product further down the road.
There's just not much to be gained by spending that money on something one knows is just not gonna be (compared to the other bits and pieces we've all collected to make sounds) useful in any way.
Which is a long way of saying, no, you probably aren't going to get a review of this mic, because a lot of the people with more experience than you (ie, with the knowledge to give it an objective review besides "I use it and it sounds good to me, it being the only thing I've ever used.") haven't even bothered trying it out.
If it was a diamond in the rough (which occasionally happens when a cheap piece of gear comes along - someone will have tried it out and will have come back raving about this cheap little wonder they've just cunningly acquired), searching this forum or the myriad others accessible through the googles would have brought up some hits on it's awesomeness.
No such luck.
Which is an even further long way of saying no, it's not the best for vocals.![]()
