UAD-1 question

Well the card arrived, it's installed, and I'm now in plug-in heaven.

acidrock's right - the channel strip stuff is really good.

I tried the 1176SE on a drum mix, smashing it & with fast release, and to be honest I don't seem to end up with anything much different from the Cakewalk compressor.

I like Nigel, though. It's already fixed up a problem guitar sound for me, and it sounds 10 times better than bloody Amplitube, which thankfully I never have to look at again.

Man it's going to take me a week to get familiar with just what's here before I even try the demos. It's a dirty job...

It's a dirty job...

a nice job it is ;)

i'd like to get me an uad1 too...but maybe in six months or so,

too bad the 1176 doesn't leave a stunning first impression,
and is this 1176 mono or stereo? can you put two mono plugins on a stereo drumbus?
i finally started mixing with hardware but i still want
one real decent eq plugin
one decent compressor/limiter
one decent verb

which one would you pick from the uad1 studio package?
are there any gates in the package? if so, how do you like them?

The 1176LN sounds better than the SE, which sounds thin to me. The Pultec Pro EQ rules the world! For limiting, the LA2A is great and the Precision is scarily transparent. I love the Plate 140, easy to use, great sounds, even has some good presets :)

If you're not into effects that much just use the Preflex.Very resource friendly.

I mostly use the LA2A and the Pultec. After that it's the comp/eq channel strip.

I'm very happy with mine and don't view it as soley a software purchase, but a computer upgrade because of the built in processing power. Of course if I were to buy another card I'd be spending $400 and only get a processor upgrade, but no new software. :(

Congratulations on the new card,I hope you enjoy it!
