I have the UAD-1 studio pak. I should be able to run run a ton of these plugins at one time but for example with the La2a I cant have more than 5 or 6 running at the same time. I get a message about VST plugin being disabled. Anyone got a clue?

buffers have been at the same setting since sonar 1.3. Now I use sonar 5P. Would I have to raise buffers for newer Sonar? What is "normal" buffer settings ? I moved mine from 104.5 to 81.3 Lower but " faster a apposed to " safe".

You'll only get a certain numberof plugins running on each card.

Open up the UAD performance meter. It will tell you how much memory & cpu the card is using

Yes, Im aware of that but with the UAD-1 studio I should per the maunal be able to run14 La2a limiters at a time ( mono) and I can only get about 5 at a time. Nigel, forget it, verbs like Realverb...nope. I can only collectivly run about 8-10 total VST plugins from my UAD CARD.

How fast is the CPU? The DSP capability of the card is still dependent on processor speed & RAM.

PEN 4, 2.8 processor, 1 gig memory

Are you sure you are running the mono plugs? They load as a separate plug than the normal stereo versions, if you load the stereo version on a mono track, it will still take the stereo amount of DSP.

Edit: OK, with 2 cards I just did 8 instances of LA2A at 24% DSP load  And I have a slower box than yours.

Low buffers for tracking, high buffers for mixing. Whatever it takes. I run ASIO drivers and I track at 32 and mix at 512. Beyond 512 there is no benefit. Also, you can use the Freeze function and apply the UAD plugs unlimited. (At least until your CPU stalls)

I have the 1176ln, la2a, and pultec eq on one track. It would seem to be mono. The only time I see stereo uad plugins is when I use them in sound fordge. The Fairchild does offer both stereo and mono.

remember with 2 cards you WILL run less CPU. The load is spread across the 2 cards

Right now in a project I have 2 fairchilds(stereo) 1 1176ln,1 pultec, and 1 la2a. cpu is at 72%. memory 10%
