UAD-1 - Are you happy with the results?

I am moving in the direction of getting the UAD-1 and wanted to get some opinions of what others are experiencing with theirs.

Do you like it?

How close are the LA2A and 1176 emulations?

Is it another piece of over hyped junk?

Am I kidding myself thinking I can get close to the sound of a real LA2A and 1176?

Get it.

I was also very skeptcal, and put it off for many months.
But I use it all the time now. I very rarely use my Waves Gold stuff now.

How close these emulations are depends on what your experience with hardware units is. One thing is certain, it puts you in the ballpark of their sonic signature. How specific you want to get will vary between different users.

The Pultec, LA-2A, and 1176 plugs are worth the price alone.

Ditto. Even at twice the price you're not going to get a better limiter, compressor and eq. I coulndn't imagine having to work without these now.
