Tuning peg came off of my acoustic (kids deny knowing what happened!!!) and then took off another to take the screw into the hardware store to buy one the same size. Now the second tuning peg and screw are missing!!!

Does anyone know what size screw (if it's standard at all) we'll need?

Go to a local music store that does guitar repairs. The guy there will have drawers full of them, it might cost all of $0.10

I'm sure you're right, but the three local music stores i've been to so far, the guys are a little - duh - about it. Don't have the right pieces, but I guess I'll keep trying. these guys try to get me to buy new tuning machines for megabux.

I'll keep trying. thanks for your response.

take the whole guitar into an old, old..........

hardware store, find someone OVER 40 YEARS OF AGE!. Take the guitar to him and say you need to fix it and then show him the problem.

2nd thought, check to see if you have any artists guilds around, many of them have woodworkers, and sometimes people that make stringed instruments.

3rd thought, ask for music teachers that teach guitar, explain the problem, ask for help.

4th thought, go to bars, etc, and check for gigging musicians, same, same

5th thought, google or froogle luthier supplies, call some people

look pitiful, sacrafice a goat, and after you get it fixed, LOCK THE DAMN THING UP!!!

I hate to correct, but it is an oxen you must sacrifice for this specific act of God

I didn't know that "not me" visited your house also!

I'll kill that bastard if I can ever find him.

Well, that bastard is more sneaky than you give him credit for! He brings doggy treats for the K-9's!

my 2 outside dogs are trained to respond to food from a stranger with agression.

the inside rott (samantha, the rottwiellor of love), apparently never met anyone she did'nt like. I am trying to cut back on her weight, but she just stares at me with her big brown eyes. I got her several years ago from a rescue kennel. I keep looking for something in temperment, or anything that would cause someone to give her up, still a mystery.

she's getting up there now, I guess they will have to put me into the grave along with her. (kidding, but not much)

The right screws for gears are a real bitch to find new. If you go to a guitar shop which has been doing repair for a few decades, you should be able to find used ones, though. As for the gears, it depends on what they are. The best thing is to bring the guitar to that same decades old repair shop, and talk to the folks there.

Spank ALL the kids to make sure you get the right one! Or at least threaten to, usually someone will squeal on the one who actually did it. Then spank the one who broke the guitar, then spank the others for lying about it. Then after it's fixed, lock it up.
