Yeah, I hear the cure in there as well. If my memory serves me right the name of the singer is Robert Smith. It's not my cup of tea either, but like you said, it was well executed, and that's what counts.

ive never listened to the cure to be honest, but i do hear that alot...what is your cup of tea gentleman...

Bigsnake, you should definitely listen to the cure. You have a voice that sound a lot like Robert Smith. For me, it is more the vocal sound than anything else.
My cup of tea is Blues, Jazz, and Rock. However, I listen to, and enjoy, anything that is well writtten and played.

Great Job!!!! I hate to repeat what other people are saying but if you played this for a Cure fan they would think it was a new song. It's interesting how influences come together to form themselves into something unique. My wife will absolutely LOVE this one!

Holy cow

Wow. How the hell did you do that? You used the MR-8 for it? I'm still using junk to monitor, but still in comparison, it sounds clear, crisp, not distorted, mixed well, creative w/ sound fx and unique vocal. Even without the tech aspects it's a good performance too.

As far as song and content and style, I guess it's more than 80's but more like updated 80's with some late 90's, currently more WLIR (modern rock mix -used to be 80's and got lost when Teen Spirit hit - NY) than WXRK (KROCK - late on the alt rock bandwagon - NY) But that might make it 00's - not that anyone is interested. But technically and for this box that I'd like to throw against the wall very hard, at the moment, it's darn good.

I agree also w/ the Cure comparisons, vocally I thought of them first.

After re-reading my earlier post, I sounded slightly less encouraging than I intended (as I have a tendency to do).

Let me re-phrase; Excellent song.

I neither like nor dislike the cure, because they produce good music, but remind me of snotty little girls in high school, who were merely impressed with the singers inability to apply lipstick successfully. (please don't over-analize this).

As for "my" cup of tea, it tends to be bi-polar. I hate it when people say they listen to anything/everything, and then when you ask them to specify, it turns out that they listen to popular radio, or some other generic form of non-diversified drivel, exclusively.

There are worthwhile/talented artists in every genre, or at least theoretically so.

Keep up the good work!

Snake,

I have a very similar set up for my home studio drum-mic-wise. How did you position your mics to pick the sound up the way it did?

As far as how Im setting the mics up its a little strange, and im not sure if i like it.....right now im limited to 2 mic stands(for the base and condenser) and Im running 5 mics...but the 57s come with clips so its doable

base drum is off center diagonal lower right about 4 inches and the mic is about 3 inches from the head

snare- the 57 is almost touching the top head nothing special

high hat, crash cymbal- ive got a 57 clamped onto a spare snare and set inbetween the two cymbals and pointing upwards at the two

I have my condensor on a stand right between the middle toms

same set up on the ride and crash as my high hat/crash combo

tahts it....the trick is to make the condenser pick up what you want (the toms) and have just a bit of the cymbal mixed in...

sorry if this make zero sense...im going on like 4 hours of sleeeeeeeppppppppppp
