Tubes??

I have read up on come preamps, and some people are saying that the are staticy stock, but if you buy a NOS Tube for it, the quality can change drastically. My preamp is staticy. How would I buy a new tube for it to try to change the quality? I am not quite sure what this means.

Just get a new 12ax7. They can be had for under $10 most of the time.
A NOS tube will change the sound, but the rest of the electronics in your preamp doesn't warant that type of investment. A run-of-the-mill new tube will likely fix your problem.
