Tryin to Get this effect.

The Samples:

The First Sample is With Out it
The Second Sample iS with it
The 3rd Sample Is with it
The 4th sample is without it
The 5th Sample is with it
The 6th Sample is wit it
The 7th sample is without it.

I hope i didnt confuse u guys.

Could be miltiband comp?
Or maybe psp vin warmer?
Or maybe an exciter?
Or perhaps one of those boxes that adds even order harmonics to the signal?
I think crane song makes something like that.
Just guessing.

ok ill keep messin around wit that kinda stuff, peeps if u kno fill me in.

I'm just listening on computer speakers at the moment but it sounds to me like a high pass filter, removing some of the mud at the bottom so that the top stands out and there's a bit more clarity.

Could be wrong though ...

It's subtle meaning what was used over the stereo buss has several layers but the dry to wet ratio isn't much more than 30 to 50%...maybe a little more.

It sounds like there are several different effects being used.

A split mono detuned delay (very slight), EQ filters, and limiting. Maybe a little flanging but that could come from the EQ and detuned delay as well. There was a setting on my old Alesis Q2 multi-effects called "Rapper's Delight" that achieved the same effect when used just right in a mix. It used about 5 or 6 different effects in one stereo chain. I don't have the unit any longer but I do remember what I stated above at the very least.

Addendum: Really now that I listen to it more and more it just sounds like it was mastered, EQ so the frequencies are tighter, and a limiter to get it up to a overall nominal level (of which is dependent on EQ before the limiter). At first it was hard for me to separate the vocal effects from the overall mastered mix. A Mastering Engineer can bring out vocals from a pre-mastered mix. I've had plenty of things come out drastically different (in a good way) based on the techniques of a Mastering Engineer, it's a whole other science but a necessary one. I believe in the separation of process.

ok thanks for all the input guys. and yea its sumthin that iz done after. thats y i was sayin it was sum type of plugins or sumthin.

Probably an exciter...what it basically does is to spike up the ultra highs freq to add some clarity. On the last sample (the Jay Z one) it did sound like a stereo enhancer was added to it. It wides the stereo perception to add interest and depth to a track
