Trouble with recording the Alesis MultiMix8 USB 2.0 mixer onto Cubase 4!

I know nothing about i0|2 or whatever it's called

Anyway I was wondering how to install the VST thingy on Cubase 4 under Devices>Device Setup. I tried the VST Audio System option and selected "ALESIS IO|2 USB ASIO" at the dropdown bar (at the top) "No USB ASIO audio device found" was my response. WHAT SHOULD I DO, PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Very confused at what you are asking. VST has nothing to do with the Alesis or devices or ASIO or USB.

A VST is a piece of software that can be an effect or similar like an eq, that is seperate from your DAW (cubase) but can be inserted on a track in cubase.

ASIO is the type of driver the Alesis uses to communicate audio with your computer and cubase.

Can you describe what you are trying to accomplish?

I'll restart since that was really confusing what I wrote!

Step 1:
Under "Devices" I pressed "Device Setup"

Step 2:
In the now opened window, I pressed "VST Audio System"

Step 3:
Under the dropdown bar at the top, I pressed "ALESIS I|O2 USB ASIO"

Step 4:
This popped up so I pressed "switch"

Step 5:
This popped up

I'm stuck on how i can record seperate tracks (or sound for that matter!)

OK,
First thing, have you installed the ASIO drivers for the Alesis. They would come on the installation CD with it, but it's best to download the lastest one from the Alesis webiste. Once the Alesis drivers are installed and working, then you can get it setup in cubase

do you have alesis io2 or multimix8? these are two different interfaces. have you installed right drivers?

tip: use jpg format for pictures on internet, not bmp.

If you have Multimix then why did you installed io2 drivers?

uninstall your io2 drivers, go here: http://www.alesis.com/multimix8usb20, select Docs & Downloads below and then find correct drivers according to your op.sys. Download, install, restart computer and try then.

Okay, I actually was able to figure out more. The only problem is that the guitar I plugged in records onto numerous tracks as well as a microphone

here's an example of what I need to accomplish. I don't have the instruments/mics to test it with.

How can I put each XLR mic on a seperate track, as well as the four mono tracks and two stereos seperately?

i have the same mixer and i just set it up with 8 mono inputs then the left and right main mix so its ten total and ive never had problems, all channels then appear active and worked fine ever since

Thanks so much! It worked! Could I record the XLR Mic Inputs by adding 4 Stereo tracks?
