Hey all,

I just started learning to record at home, with Audiobox USB and Rode M3 mic. Today I tried to connect, everything went well except the mic, not work at all. I tried to connect my electric violin with the same cord for the mic, that works, but there was no input at all when I connected the M3 mic. I used the phantom 48v supply (with the Audiobox USB) without battery. Do you think it is possible that the new mic is a broken one? I really hope not. How can I test it and give some feedback to the seller? Thank you for helping!

Best,

Joey:facepalm:

Have you had the mike working at all?

I'm not sure what cord you are using for the mike and electric violin, but the Rode would need XLR to XLR. Maybe you've got 6.5 jack to XLR or something like that.

No, the mic did not work even once. Thank you Gecko, I use the XLR to XLR, with 3-pin male and female jack to connect it to my violin, I did so just want to make sure the cord works. Today I will go and buy a battery to see whether it work.

Hey Mark,

Thank you for replying, I just bought a 9v battery, the mic works now. So I figured out that the Audiobox USB does not provide 48v Phantom power as it should be. But I still cannot make sure is the problem of Audiobox or the Mic itself. Do you have any idea that how to test it? I connect the two as below:

Audiobox USB-----1/4 jack to XLR 3 pin cord------mic. As my understanding, the 1/4 jack can pass the power to the mic, maybe I am wrong?

Anyway, thank you so much, I will try to bring both of them to a local shop. I purchased from Amazon, dont wanna just return.

Yes . . . you are wrong. Phantom power is not delivered through a 1/4 jack. You need XLR to XLR

OMG!!!! Thank you so much Mark!!! I should plug the XLR directly to the audiobox, rather to add a 1/4 to XLR LOL. I think that is why I am here at newbies, thank you soooo much! Working now!
