Hello Folks,
A couple of years ago I acquired some Mellotron files: (someone out THERE had recorded each tape from each mellotron bank so it's several sets each with a mono 8sec wav file for each key on the board of a standard 'Tron).
I've used some in a few songs but by importing and cutting up the single files in Reaper.
This process works but is VERY tedious, (ALMOST like tape & razor editing but non destructive). I've tried loading the files into the sampler section of a Roland Disklab but that then requires lots of fiddling about to get the start in the right place as well as really only making 8 notes easy to use. Also the sound of the files from the DL is rather poorer than the 1st process achieved.
I don't have any midi gear.
Is there any way/free software solution of loading and triggering the files in the computer so I can "play" them into a track rather than chopping them up etc?

Reaper allows you to make midi manually (Insert -> New MIDI Item...). Double-click the item; from there you can draw the midi notes.

Hello Steve,
being that the files are mono .wav files would that work? If Y I'll give it a burl! Ta
