I just finished reading Sirens, and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it.
As a read, it is set up perfect for me. Short chapters keep the pace moving, and within some of the chapters the story pans to different scenes. For me that allows the flow of the story to stay fresh. The text size is user friendly where I didn’t need the help of the Hubble telescope. I also like how the characters are set up, and how the story lines play out in the different relationships between the sirens and the humans. Senator Poole was one of my favorite characters in this novel, and also his friend William J. Andrews, leader of the Scorpions. (No, not the heavy metal band) And of course, the female sirens were all seductive in nature to say the least.
The story in itself I thought is quite intriguing. I like the blend of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Ancient History and Mythology that Wig offers in this book. Also the International issues that are brought up within the story give the reader something to contemplate about in today’s troubled world.
The Sirens are very alluring characters, and I can only imagine what it must be like to be under their spell. Now you got me looking around Wig to see who has the letter h in their names! The story of where they came from, why they’re here and where they’re going is a fascinating one. And the changes that the sirens go through shape the body of this story.
The ending is bitter sweet, with the sirens getting the sweet part. It sets up nicely with suspense and a sense of urgency for the sirens and the humans. And I like the location you picked for the climax of this adventure. History does repeat itself.
After reading this book, I felt as stewards of this planet, we are walking on a tight rope with love in one hand, and fear in the other. Fear trying to knock us off, and love urging us on to a safe place.
Without reservation, I heartily recommend this book.
Great job Wig and congratulations!!
