There are times when I'm composing MIDI tracks in Sonar Home Studio that I actually want to play what has been composed and stop at a certain point in the score. The "Stop" button stops the score just fine, but it returns the cursor or pointer to spot where it was previous to hitting the "Play" button.

Is there a way to set the software so that the pointer stops at the current point instead of returning to the previous resting spot?

Try Options > Global and uncheck the box for "on stop, rewind to now marker."

Works in Sonar, probably will work in HS.

Thank you so much. It works like a champ. Does anybody happen to know of a printed (or virtual) manual someplace that outlines what all of the options that might come in handy?

I remember the days when I used to read over all the reference sections of the software that I purchased and could actually learn a lot! Seems like the days of the comprehensive printed manuals are over....

Er, yeah. It comes with the software - or at least it does with Sonar, and I assume the same for Home Studio.

The manual for Home Studio 4 is about 60 pages (about 3/8" thick) and is very brief. It doesn't tell you what each and every feature found in the software does and how it works. The online help is better, but unless you actually know what you are looking for, you may never find it. It's much easier to read the manual from front to back and file the info away for when you might need it.
