I have a few toys, but would really like to start upgrading my entry level mic pres. I have too much bass-oriented gear, and too little VO stuff.
My dream unit is the Avalon 2022AD, which would give me both the ultimate mic pre, and the ultimate DI for bass (at least for my uses). However, that unit is well out of my budget, even with trades.
So, I'm hoping that somebody may have something like a True Systems P-Solo, or an upgraded ART Pro or Voice Channel, or a Grace, a Summit, an RNP, a UA710, a Chameleon Labs, or something of that nature that they've outgrown, or that's not getting use.
My trade bait consists of an Avalon U5, a JoeMeek VC3 (UK), an EBS bass octave pedal, an ADK A-51 with upgraded caps, and potentially a DeArmond Jetstar Special bass (prefer local deal in SoCal on this one - very heavy and bulky). I'd be willing to combine items with each other, or with a small amount of cash for the right preamp.
PM me if interested - thanks!

would you sell the u5?

Yes, but I'd really prefer to trade if possible. I love my U5, so unless it's replaced by something that's pretty killer for my VO work, I'd hate to see it go.
PM sent.

...you might want to check out the new Golden Age Projects PRE73 (one of the latest in a series of Neve 1073 "clones"...very similar to the pre section of the Chameleon Labs version)...available from Altomusic.com (ask for Anthony)...$299 for 80dB of 3-stage gain (put an item or two of yours up on Craigslist and convert them to cash) and the reviews so far are quite impressive...GAP is based in Sweden and it seems they've done a fair job in spec'ing this one out...I should have one in few days and will post my impressions then...;)

I've got a Golden Age Pre73 on its way as well. Its been compared to as very similar to the chameleon labs pre, but with higher gain before distortion. The harmonic distortion of the pre73 at high gains has been said to be pretty nice sounding in comparison to the CL pre. Its a lot less expensive as well.

Thanks guys - that one wasn't on my radar, but shows a lot of promise....
....another chapter in my continuing education - much appreciated.
