I am in awe of Manning's PT stance. He has to work for them or something, I mean, I love cheescake, and I think it is far better than any other pie/cake out there, but I'm not trying to force it down anybodies throat.

Geez.

Do a search here on Powertracks. Sometimes I get confused and think I've accidentally stumbled into the PG Music forums. :D

all.
yep - and i'm the devil incarnate, and responsible for all the worlds ills.
i created the bermuda triangle - didnt ya know ?
and those funny little ufo alien sightings ??
i cant tell a lie , all us powertracks users dress up once a new year occurs ,
and put saucers up in the sky and take photographs.
youll see us this new years eve.
seriously - happy new year to everyone.
i wish you all nothing but a prosperous year ahead.

ps. i dont work for anyone. i'm semi retired.

Semi-retired? Are you seriously gonna try and tell us that you do not have a vested interest in Powertracks?

I call BS.

no interest at all. nada . zilch . nothing.
just a user. i'll swear on a stack of bibles if need be.peace.

Maybe you should get a job and buy some real software then? haha

Happy New year back at ya!

same happys to you morningstar.
actually my wife retires soon as well.
neither of us want to go back to the daily grind.
to be utterly frank being in hi tech is not the place to be these days imho.
tight budgets, deadlines. no fun at all.
i just dont want to know any more.
its time for the youngsters to take over.
i was in it in the early days with big mainframes. in those days it was
a pleasure to be in hi tech. these days big companies want to pay
you as little as they can get away with and burn you out.
if ive seen one - ive seen a thousand burn outs.
if i never see another mainframe or network i'll be happy frankly.
and if i DO anything , on occasion ive been offered uni lecturer jobs teaching engineering. here in the frozen north they are getting short of engineering lecturers as everyone moves to the USA for big money.
so i might do THAT part time. but i'm happiest just running my studio and writing my silly little tunes and hanging out with my great wife.
wish us luck.

No need to swear on a stack of bibles. I already know.....

1. You have nothing to do with PG Music

2. The rest of us have vested interest in the "other" software company's software we use (even though we don't use these forums as advertising forums for that software).

3. Powertracks is better than anything else out there. Hands down.

4. Professionals that have used higher-end software tried Powertracks and suddenly the world became a better place for them. They switched and with the shear power Powertracks unleased, their skills are now vastly improved.

5. Band in a Box and Powertracks together are the two most powerful music production tools on the earth.

6. Jeff Lorber uses Band in a Box and undoubtedly that is what helped him produce hit records.

7. Tracktion sucks (not my opinion though). This product is a baby compared to Powertracks and of course does not have the expansive, massive, phenomenal feature set that Powertracks does. Even if it does get better, it will never be as good as Powertracks - nothing will. Ever.

8. To get more tracks out of a stand-alone multitrack recorder you need Band in a Box and a computer or the infamous 1-2 punch of Powertracks AND Band in a Box.

9. Those of us that express our opinions here that go against PG Music, well, refer to #2 AND no matter what is said, we are mean and are solely ganging up against you.

10. I couldn't think of a 10th one and didn't want to leave this list ended at an odd number.

:) There it is. My year end, PG Music forum, errr, I mean Homerecording.com forum Top 10 List inspired by my PG Music ad nauseam.

Happy New Years everyone!!!! :) Whether you're putting the "Power" in your tracks or using another under-featured program, have a peaceful and prosperous new year next year. Now let's get back to recording.

Well good luck to ya's. This is all too funny for me though because I have an employment agency that finds jobs for educators. So if you're ever down this way looking for a job, let me know. I'll fix you up as long as you don't try to sell powertracks at the school :p

morningstar. actually your missing a big market. over in europe they are having tremendous problems getting teaching staff.
particularly women lecturers and teachers. reason being , a lot of problems in inner city schools.
me - i'm just going to kick back with my wife for a few years.
the demographics are very interesting. millions of boomers will retire all over the world in the next few years . this will cause employers to start really
having problems getting good people.
read boom, bust, echo sometime, an interesting book on demographics.
frankly ive had my fill managing people. just want to retire.
i might even buy a pub and get drunk every day if my studio doesnt pan out !!

NYM - He's right - teachers are needed desperatum over here, they give you £6k ($10k) just to train now! Come over to Leeds, I'll hook you up at a school with an awesome $1m recording studio, you will be very happy.

Warble - nice - Manning's 10 points

That's a good run down on what I've been reading from Manning for the past year or two.

Can't we just put Mannings 10 points as a sticky and be done with it?

I just whipped that list up, but that's the gist of it all. Unfortunately, it really won't ever be done. I guess we can all just put him on our ignore list, but actually I have no one on my list yet. I'd just like to see him tone it down and stick to giving decent advice - which he IS good at aside from the PG promotional stuff (which is promoted where it isn't asked about, or for).

While I agree he does provide decent advice apart from the PG crap, it'll never happen.

Q: "What kind of microphone should I buy?"

A: "Any mike sounds better through PowerTracks"

Q: "What kind of guitar has a great overdriven sound, but cleans up nicely when you roll back the volume?"

A: "PowerTracks will let you hear that, no other software will"

Q: "I need a good breakfast cereal. What do you all recommend before a long recording session?"

A: "PowerTracks stays crunchy in milk."

:D Alright, so I exaggerate a little.

warble. i have refrained from posting many times even though it might help someone new with a problem. for example several times ive seen a newbie post here who would find pg's master class instruction offerings usefull.
for example the oscar peterson wonderfull product where musicians can study his rare technique, or the blues, rock, jazz video guitar lessons or some of the masterclass series for guitar and piano.
many newbies (if you take the time to read the pg forums) have stated many times they wish they had heard about these earlier.
as it has helped their playing immensely. all these products were done by very talented professional musicians which you seem to dismiss with the stroke of a few words.
i dont know how more professional you can get than peterson or berkel or some of the others. ive refrained from posting about these which even seasoned players find instructive because i know - here we go again - more attacks coming. maybe you dont find such info usefull, but maybe others might benefit greatly.
but to keep you happy, i will continue to refrain, and newbies can
wade through the mire of it all.
anyway i think the best is if i go to another bbs, and you can go pick on some other unfortunate.
will that make you happy ? because frankly i dont care for this constant level of attack.
lifes just too short for such unpleasantness.

Try pgmusic.com. Your posts would sit well there. And as far as your snide comment, you were the abusive one here causing the unpleasantness with hijacking the posts with the advertising. Do you always play the victim when you don't get your way?

Manning, you have really brought this upon yourself. I think it's great that you have found an affordable functional program FOR YOU! However, it may not be for me. I don't care what features it or any other programs offer. I use Nuendo for several reasons. First, it is the most widely accepted PC application in the studio industry. Clients don't want to come record on Powertracks no matter how cool I tell them it is. In fact, I usually have to explain to them Nuendo because clients all want Pro Tools. I also use Nuendo because it is VERY Feature Packed. In fact, it may be the most feature packed audio app on the market. Third, its stable and reliable. Fourth, I know it like the back of my hand. I actually provide tech support for friends that use Nuendo and Cubase on my cell phone driving down the highway. I don't have time to try and learn what I view as an inferior program.

Tracktion is free. No matter how much it does or doesn't do, thats an incredible deal. Powertracks may be really cool. I don't care. The point is, you won't accept that for other people. You exude this feeling that those who don't use powertracks, or like any other application are just ignorant and amateur. You also constantly hijack other threads in forums relating specifically to certain Manufacturers or Programs with your Powertracks crap. Powertracks may be useful, but I would imagine it has a long way to go before it reaches the professional acceptance of something such as Pro Tools, Digital Performer, Cubase, Nuendo or even Sonar for that matter. There really is nothing wrong with buying one of those other programs instead. So stop trying to make those who are searching feel like it is.

Why is this even being brought up? I'm not referring to the Oscar Peterson product, or any other master class product, etc. I've never seen you mention this before, only Powertracks and BIAB. I know of the Oscar Peterson product you mention, and I certainly have nothing against it. I respect Oscar Peterson's music - I've no idea why you even brought this up. You're apparently not reading my posts and what I'm referring to.

i dont know how more professional you can get than peterson or berkel or some of the others. ive refrained from posting about these which even seasoned players find instructive because i know - here we go again - more attacks coming. maybe you dont find such info usefull, but maybe others might benefit greatly.

I never said these people weren't professional. Again, you need to read my posts and maybe remember what you've posted. I was referring to your comments on the "fact" that those who record with high-end software goto Powertracks and somehow their untapped skill is unleashed - and I was disagreeing with those statements. It's OK for me to disagree with you, isn't it? That's part of the public forum thing. But it seems when someone does, you get defensive, feel picked on, and at times are condescending to others - especially in regards to those who don't know as much as you. It's also not about whether the information is useful or not, it's how this info is being posted. How many times have you posted about Powertracks or BIAB where it didn't even apply to the topic posted? Numerous times.

Please don't play the victim card, Manning. Come on man. You can leave if you want, but that is certainly not what I want you to do. The solution is simple: lighten up on the PG Music promotion and focus on giving good technical advice - which you excel at. That's why I choose not to put you on my ignore list - the good info you provide.

It's not always about newbies either, so don't justify it by saying "newbies need to know about these products because they don't know better". You post the PG Music stuff at any opportunity you get for any reason, for anyone. Let newbies explore this site which is full of useful information and many different options for whatever it is they're trying to accomplish.

In regards to the comment "...and you can go pick on some other unfortunate", well, I don't think that's generally how I'm viewed around here. My purpose isn't to hunt down people in here and make their lives miserable.

It seems you want to regard me as an enemy, go right ahead. I haven't resorted to name calling or anything really immature (except maybe my top 10 list - which was based on facts), I've just been attempting to stick to facts which others here have stated they agree with and have seen. Did you read Lorddiagram's post? I'm not the sole one around here that see's this stuff going on, but heck, I'll be the designated "Mr. Bad Guy" I guess.

Good day.

Bulls Hit: My apologies for taking this thread on a tangent.
