While trackign to ADATs I always get my signals as high as possible. NOW when I dump to CUBASE 5.0 via my MOTU 2408MKII the signals are too hot or loud and upon mixdown I get a slight crackle or hissy distortion.

Is there a way to lower the over all input ?? Limiting track by track so far has resulted in bad sound

Are you recording on the ADATs at 20 bits and then transfering into the computer at 16, truncating the last 4 bits? That could account for clipped levels.
Do you have the MOTU set to lightpipe when going from ADAT to the computer? If not, you'd get some nasty sound as well.
Are you matching the sampling rate of the ADATs and the sampling rate of the MOTU? Just a few things to check. I'm running ADATs and a 2408mkII as well. If you're still having a problem, get back with me.

I will check into those things. and get back.. i mean the soudn is good but just recorded too loud for the cubase system.

Do you have latest drivers from the motu site installed? I was having this problem until I updated drivers. Help a bunch. Before I had to compress everything once I got it in the computer :(
