OK.... there are so many people posting their "guilty pleasures" on the Top 5 thread that I figured I would start one specifically for it.

Here are mine:

1. John Denver
2. Journey
3. Shania Twain
4. THe Coors
5. My own stuff

OK now guys...... spill it!

A

George Michael
REO Speedwagon (especially after a few cold ones)
Haircut 100
Robbie Williams
311

coming out of the closet...

No, not that closet...the guilty pleasures closet.

I don't even own anything by these bands, but they get the "oh, yeah" nod when they get played on the "70's" internet stations:

In no particular order:

1. Abba
2. Jim Croce. hey, there's some great guitarin' there!
3. Sweet. "It's, it's the ballroom blitz!"
4. KC & the Sunshine Band. I hated 'em back in the 70's. Like to hear them now. I don't know what changed. Certainly not me!
5. Earth Wind & Fire. same with them.

One more, although I don't know if this counts since I would actually admit to liking them: ELO.

1. Musical Theater (ALW, Stephen Schwartz, Gilbert&Sully, etc)
2. Eazy-E
3. Crash Test Dummies
4. David Allan Coe
5. Rage Against the Machine

As you can see, I'm a pretty fucked up individual. :D

1. Shania Twain
2. Faith Hill
3. 80's music

That's about it......!

Warrant
Skid Row
Enuff Znuff

Long live the 80's!!!

Gino Martino (real name "Eugene Strenz") from Enuff Znuff is a good friend of mine. He's the co-owner of a little guitar shop in Worth, Illinois called Players Guitars. Good choice on that band. :)

Some of my choices...

Bettie Serveert

Sugarloaf

Hot Chocolate

Beth Hart

They Might Be Giants

ABBA! Yes! First one I thought of.

I gotta say, though, Earth, Wind and Fire ain't no guilty pleasure. That band fucking rocks.

Men at Work
Journey
Fine Young Cannibals
Cranberries
Sugar Ray

Everything else I like, of course, is the peak of musical excellence, and beyond reproach in any way.

Men at Work

If you like Men at Work, check out Colin Hay's solo CD, "Man @ Work" He reworked a bunch of Men at Work tunes. It's got more of an acoustic, less-produced vibe to it...good stuff.

What?! Who said I liked Men at Work?
I have denied liking Men at Work for years, and will for years to come! Do not speak to me of Men at Work!!

thanks for the tip :o

Jason Mraz
The Argument (guys, listen to their Inflatable Amy... the best love song ever  )
Jack Johnson
Leon Russell (saw her live in October :D )

Jack Johnson

oh yeah... that's a good call.. My fiancee played that for me and I hate to say that I liked it. He's like a less talented but more likeable J Mayer.

on, On and On he has this totally beatles-esque tune called Cocoon. "So, pleaaaaase... take what's left of this heart and uuuuuuuuuse..."

he totally lifted that from "I'm So Tired"

What the hell is wrong with Cranberries? Ignoring their last few albums I mean.

OK, my turn:

One of my reference disks is a Backstreet Boys live CD. It's just damn well mixed.

1. Duran Duran
2. Adam and the Ants
3. Cheap Trick
4. ABBA (or Mama Mia soundtrack)
5. W.A.S.P.

Duran Duran
Ace of Base (has to be a sunny day)
Ashley Simpson

I think the soundtrack to - well, the songs in - Evita is - are - brilliant. Generally I hate musicals and I hate Lloyd Webber's music, but Evita is just so good. I even enjoyed the film with Madonna.

Otherwise, Abba, but I'm not sure I should feel guilty about that (well, if I liked Fernando I would, but I don't)

Would "RENT" be a guilty pleasure?

I'd like to take out Abba and put in Meat Loaf.

Jane Child's 1st record (and really only 2 songs on it)

Crass (some of their politics are a little hard to swallow, but the pure punk songs are great)

Angel (Punky Meadows, the "only man to ever tell Gene Simmons 'no'," now owns a tanning salon in Virginia!)

Bill Bruford's Earthworks (1st two records - my friends think it's too weird, but I dig it.)

My early 4-track stuff!

the edzell - have you ever heard the very first Adam and the Antz (notice the 'z') record? "Dirk Wears White Sox" is very different than their commercial stuff. One of my all-time favorite records.

And what the hell is wrong with Cheap Trick? They rock.

1. Definitely KC and the Sunshine band
2. Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five
3. Cheap Trick
4. The Baby's (Brittish band opened for Journey in 1980) Midnight Rendevoux and back on my feet again
5. Yanni live at the Accropolis...very cheesy I know but the bass player on that is killer and very nice use of dynamics un like the over compressed crappy sound on FM radio these days.....Let the flames begin!
