Thanks. Like I said I write my own stuff and play acoustic and a squire electric. As to what is lacking? I'm happy with what I hear when I play live but when I record it I can hear lots of out of tune and fluffs and stuff that shouldn't be there. So as you can see I'm a nooby and I need to work on techiques and setup first as well as doing some recording research. I only posted today because I feel I have been here to long reading and some people may have seen me hiding behind the curtain.

Well, even the worst recording set up in the world won't add "lots of out of tune and fluffs". That sounds like a performance issue. A great recording set up will only highlight those issues more.
So, my answer to that non-question would be: Practice.

If you wish a more 'one on one' opinion from a member, pick a nice one, and PM them. There are many very understanding/caring members here. There are also some that can be a bit rude. When I first saw "chest_ tickle" I thought, that rhymes with.....then you said you are a girl which brings on an entirely different 'urban connobation'.
So, what to do ?
As RAMI said, practice. Practice your playing, your timing, your rhythmic proficiency and your singing and remaining in tune. Practice getting through a song without fluffs. You probably think all is well live, but the recorder is the most honest critic you'll ever meet. Cameras can lie. Recorders don't.
Parallel to all this, get either a cassette portastudio, an interface and recording software to go into your computer {Reaper comes cheap, highly recommended and pretty wicked} or a standalone digital audio workstation {DAW for short}. Learn how to basically record a simple song with an acoustic part, an electric guitar part, a tambourine or shaker part, a vocal and a harmony. When you've done that, play with trying to mix it all into an understandable song. Try out various effects if you have them and see what they do.
That should get you started.
