Too Many Soundcards To Choose From!!!

OK, i'm gonna make a new PC soon for recording ...but i don't know which sound card to go for...

i've been looking at RME multiface and fireface ... both very expensive ...

The multiface will mean that i will need some mic pre's or a mixer as well ...

the fireface has mic pre's built in and is firewire connection ...

The other sound card that i have been looking at is the firepod .....

Can anyone offer me some advice... oh and by the way i also have a Roland VS880 so SPDIF I/O is necessary

I will be recording rock bands mainly , drums, guitars, vocals, acoustic guitars etc etc ...

The RME stuff is on a different level than the firepod. If you can go RME, do it. Have you checked out the MOTU stuff? Much better bang for the buck than firepod.

I've been looking at these. But this product was announced by Mackie a long tme ago and they still have not delivered, so that's a red flag to me. Maybe they just can't pull it off or something.

MOTU 828mkii

so i have been researching which card to get for over a month now ...

it looks like a toss betwen the RME multiface and the motu 828mkii

the multiface means i will need to get a mixer / mic pres - any suggestions ....

or should i just save up and go the whole 9 yards and get the fireface 800....

any other suggestions....??? the multiface apparently sounds amazing ...but the price tag is a little bit out of my league considering i need to actually buy / make the computer as well ...lol

Check out the Presonus Firepod, at $600 a tremendous value, with good pres.
