Lovely song. Great guitar sound for such a cheap set up, great vocals, great arrangement. No cheese as far as I can hear.
I also reckon a cello would sound great on it. Like you, if I had a cello (and could play it) I'd use it on everything. I make do with an e-bow and use it as much as possible. Unfortunately the rest of the band tend to overrule its use on recordings, but I get to play it live (on electric guitar) on a few acoustic guitar based songs and it works really well. I always get asked by people in the audience "What were you using to make that sound?".
Keep up the good work and tell the Spaniards to be quiet next time you're recording, although you can always use the background noise to give a song some atmosphere.
Who says you need the help of big record company? Just so that they can mould you into what they want you to be? Judging by the response you've had here you're stuff would sell. Sell over the internet and at gigs and keep the money for yourself.
