i responded to you with the fact i dont work for any music company in the
liverust thread. as youve been around the recording block quite a bit.
heres a fun idea. to prove i'm an ehical computer engineer....and an ethical poster on this forum.
and that my recommendation of powertracks is ethically correct for the significant value for money this pkge brings to the recording table.
you get together a panel of lets say 3 top audio engineers...but i dont mean
people who play around with samples....i mean 3 top AE's(audio engineers) with at least 20 years of recording experience producing loads of records, and who know their way around daw recording and are unbiased obviously.
plus add a couple of newbies on the panel. and have the panel review the pkge IN DETAIL over several days recording audio and midi tracks, editing,
using effects, using scoring and notation etc etc and testing out
every single feature. then the panel could report unbiasedly to this forum on their findings. this is the only way i see of showing people on here that i'm ethical and correct in posting my recommendations. is that fair ?
you did not attack me...you asked a fair question. and i respect you for that.
in a sleazy world its a fair question. but let me state for the record i have never, nor will i ever work for a music company.
peace, and happy recording.

Manning the problem isn't about ethics, it is about spamming. It's not about saving newbies money, it's about spamming. You might be an ex computer engineer but I work in marketing and what you are doing is spamming. You can't hide it, it's in 90% of your posts.

Good products prove themselves in time. If spamming message boards is your marketing plan... you're in deep crap.

What's more important instead of being another 'also ran' but to innovate new features and improved reliability, speed and efficiency. Audio quality helps.

All it takes is the development of one 'must have' feature and your product becomes hot.

It would also be alot easier to read your SPAM if you would use some punctuation and maybe capital letter here and there.

I guess this thread is directed at me, eh?!?!?!?

Manning, I never questioned your ethics and you do not need to defend them for my sake. I actually think its cool when people from various gear companies participate on these boards. Its an intersting perspective and also kind of cool knowing that if I have opionions or experience with a piece of gear, that the guy or girl that designed it will read your feedback. I like the fact that people from companies as diverse at Manley to Studio Projects participate on various recording forums.

I asked because it would be interesting to know if you were coming from a company perspective and to know that I could direct particular questions at you that an end user might not know, and it also helps put your comments into perspective. For instance if any one sees me chime in on a topic relating to recording schools they can easierly tell from sig that I have a small side business that offers an alternative. Its easy to tell I come from a biased perspective on that issue. Its cool to know that in regards to Powertracks you do not have a financial bias.

Mine was a reasonable question to ask, as you must admit that you spend a lot more energy evangelizing the program than you would normally expect from a non company guy. I do not think thats bad, I actually think its cool especially if you are doing it from a happy end user perspective. Since as you said in the other thread you are doing it because you are trying to help people make better recordings and not waste a ton of money than we are on the exact same page even though our advice is often quite polar (and sometimes identical)

very nice post ronan. i wish you all the best in your endevours.
and - yes - it was a very reasonable question to ask.
all the best to you. and i assure you once again, i'm just a happy end user.
i also recommend amd pc's, the linux Os distro called knoppix, cad mics,
yorkville monitors, yamaha mg mixers, rane ms1b preamps, and a whole variety of products. none of whom i work for. as a user and tekkie i just search out the best value for money products for myself and friends.
in fact i dont work for anyone right now. in the past i worked for hi tech companies. none involved in the production of music or related products. as i'm semi retired and also grieving over many losses in my family due to old age.
i'm also redoing my own studio set up. peace.
