Roel

That SMART guy.
I was looking for a mic preamp, because my AKG C3000 doesn't sound the way I want it to, when directly plugged into my VS1880, and the local shop only had TL audio in stock.

So I searched the forum, but couldn't find anything about it... Why's that? Their stuff shurely looks good, and the 5050 seems affordable? Isn't it in the same price range as the joemeek micpre everyone's talking about?

And what is the way to go here. Another mic, one of these TL audio's (5001, 5050 or 5051?) or another brand of preamp-processor?

Here's a link to the website:

Thanks,
Roel

if it's any help, tlaudio is the same as hhb. i think the models in the states are the radius40 or 50...i think they are supposed to be excellent units...probably lookin at the 500-700 range...

TL Audio makes high-end tube-oriented gear, and has a well-deserved reputation for sound-quality. HHB is the North American distributor with TL Audio products released under their own name. They are pricey - if I'm not mistaken well above the $1000 mark.........

Well worth it, IF you have the funds!

Well, the prices they give me were, converted to dollars (from Belgian francs...):
For the 5050 Mono Valve preamp compressor: in between 400$ and 500$
For the 5051 Mono Valve Voice processor: arround 700$.

The products in the 'ivory'-series seem affordable over here... The 5051 would be very nice, but that's a little above the budget. 5050 would be nice. Valve compression...
The 5001 has 4 preamps, and I only got 2 mics at the time. Hard choice...

And there are other brands... There's no shop that has them all so I could compare them. So I really haven't got a clue. And the shop-dudes always think everything with a pricetag is good. Help me out...

Thanks.
