My band is very new to recording, we just bought a few things and have only recorded one song so far. We are recording in our drummers basement with brick walls. With the list that I have below and using Cubase LE(came with US122), what methods of recording do you think would give us the best sound? So far we just hung the mic and let the singer sing into it from about 10-12 inches away.

Thank you.

Do you have a pop filter? It will sort of help with some plosives. Maybe some sort of damping material on the walls...blankets, or foam...something to deaden the space a bit.

I agree about the pop filter and wall treatments. And I'd suggest getting a mic stand so you don't have to let the mic dangle from the cord.

Yep....pretty helpful thing to have...and pretty cheap.

If you don't have a pop filter and are having problems with your p's and s's try putting the mic a bit lower then normal and aim it up at the singers mouth. Then have the singer sing straight over the mic.
