to all those home-recorders complaining about the v-amp being noisy,
to all those dudes laying down their guitar track while sitting in front of the CRT, here is a tip you could use to lower the amount of interference the V-amp catches:

-get a cardoard box slightly bigger thant the v-amp in size.
-wrap the inside with several aluminium foil layers
-stick your v-amp inside the box
-drill holes in the box to manage you cables in and out the box
-get some electric cable
-tape the first extremity of the cable on the aluminium inside the box
-twist the other extremity to whatever grounded metal piece around (heater, pipes, ...)
-get a midi cable and the v-amp2 software
-close the box
-use the software to play around with the settings while it is inside the shielded-grounded cardboar box.

another tip for the CRT: instead of shutting down your CRT whenever you wanna record, use a big shielded carboard box, and cut a window the size of your display in it, that you can open and close when you want. the aluminium just "eats" the electro magnetic field when you shut the little window.

um another thing is use rf filters around the power cables you know the clip on magnets you get at dare i say it radioshack! :P
