Hi,
I'm upgrading to MacPro with Thunderbolt. I wish to recording with my faithful Presonus Firepod (Firewire 400).

Question:
Can I use Thunderbolt to Firewire Adaptor to fire up my Firepod? It works?

Steenamaroo,
Thanks for your very sure answer... I'm happy to proceeding now! Yuhoo...

Whoo! lol.

Yeah, just to elaborate a bit, the protocol is natively supported over thunderbolt.
It's only the physical fitting that you're adapting. :)

Be sure to check that there are FP drivers for your new OS, if you're upgrading that too.

Unfortunately, No More Support on OS higher than OS10.6! But, it doesn't matter right? I still can use it for recording and playback, am I correct?

I'm not sure about that, to be honest.
Someone asked about this recently. Maybe that was you?
I found conflicting user reports but the majority suggested that the bundled software/control panel wasn't support but that the interface would function fine as a basic audio device.
This seems reasonable as I'm fairly sure the FP never needed additional drivers on OSX.

Is staying with 10.6 an option or a consideration? I'm not up to speed on the backward compatibility limitations with NMP but maybe it's worth checking?

If you were operating on something > 10.6 prior to the upgrade then you already know more about it than me. Skip this post. ;)

I just got my Thunderbolt to FireWire Adaptor today and it worked perfectly awesome! I"m ready to work now... :listeningmusic:
