Hello here's one I started recently but , got side tracked working on the Joker song. Any Nits , Crits or suggestions for improvement are welcomed. (as usual)
Yairi acoustic/Ibanez bass/mandolin/harmonica/B3/ and lap steel. Thanks for the listen .. mark

3.14 drum track sounds like a hiccup. I think it's just the part. But it sounds like a hiccup. :-) It almost happens at 1.50 as well.

Really like this one. That drum track is highly unusual. It sort of lurches and works all at the same time. I'll listen again a couple of times. This mix bears scrutiny.

@dobro , Thanks I'll check those sections carefully. I couldn't find a drum loop that I was comfortable playing with for this song. I did the drums with 3 different synths just "trying" to get the feel I wanted. The drums are Really bothering me now when I listen. I'll see what I can do about it. Thanks for the conformation. .. mark

I like the song.

I agree the drums are a little unconventional, I just put it down to the style of the song.

@ Mark: I like music that doesn't meet expectations in some way. This tune does that, and especially because of the drums - they're sort of in a parallel universe to the rest of the track, and for me the experiment works. I heard a singer for the first time this week who does the same thing - she doesn't meet expectations, but it works. Her music and your tune here have approximately absolutely nothing in common except for being kinda unusual and really good and my liking of them. (I won't post a link in your mix thread, but if you want to see musical expections being surprised, check out Krystle Warren at Paste Studios NYC in YT.)

Hello , The link now reflects a Remix . I still have not figured out how to "edit" the original post to add Remix to the title. ??
The snare drum sound was the main thing bothering me. I changed kit to get a different snare with more sizzle. I moved quite a few notes around in Vs.1 and added some high hat on all the snare hits to boost the high end. I've also been having some problems with the true peak levels. I didn't realize until I went back in that the motorcycle parts weren't going thru the main mastering compressor.
@dobro , There were some funky spots at 3:14 and 1:50. I think I got them under control . Thanks for the help and sending me back to the mix.
I sure enjoyed hearing the Krystle Warren songs. People like her will survive the AI invasion. Thanks .. mark

More great work!

Loving almost every part of it... (except maybe those drums)

The mix sounds really good, great playing, great vocal. Nice.

Agree. I've listened to this song four or five times just because I dig it so much. Sounds really great in my truck. I think you can put a bow on this one.

Terrific song and a really creative arrangement. So much to like about it, but the smokey vocal is the standout for me. I guess I'm still a little unsure about whether the percussion parts at 3:14 and 1:50 couldn't be improved upon somehow, but everything else sounds perfect to me.
