I thought this was a pretty good attempt. Now I'll let the experts have at it. Have a listen and tell me what you think. This was recorded using a 424MkII, Shure SM58 mics, Alesis Midiverb (oldie but goodie) A home made DI Box for guitar and Bass. Here's the link to the song:

:) Waiting to hear your thoughts. It's been awhile since I posted anything here.

You can probably take the lo-fi version out of your post. None of us who are going to give you serious feedback will use it because it destroys the mix.

As far the hi-fi version, it's a nice song, but it seems like everything is panned up the center, or only 25-40% to the left or right, and it's creating a bit of midrange mud.

I've heard some really nice, clean recordings posted on here using the Tascam 424mkii. This one is no exception, but it could be better if you looked at the panning a bit more, and perhaps some pointed use of the eq (cut below 100hz) (boost a bit around 2000hz) or if you are using the 424 eq, turn down the low about 1/4 turn, and the high mid up the same.
Nice tune, by the way. I was digging the easy going vibe.

Very nice writing. I enjoyed the feeling that comes out in the singing.

How to make it better? I would consider removing all the drums except the kick and cross stick. I'm not sure the song needs more than that. Maybe some hats or a little shaker. It would mean retracking the drums I guess. I would agree that the song sounds a little congested but without knowing how everything was recorded and mixed it would be a little hard to say, just do this or that. You WILL figure it out though.

A lot of potential here in my opinion.

Good song. It's quite soothing.

The dynamic contrast between the verses and chorus may be a bit much. It's a little jarring.

About 20 sec in, I heard something shuffling or being bumped. You might want to check for that.

But overall, nice work.

Cool Song; has that Bee-Gee's vibe going for it.

This is a good example (in a good way) were song writing and performace out shines the production, but still producing an enjoable recording.
