Found the interview. You have you register at the site to read the forums, so I'll just post what he said:

"Droogies!

Tonight I had the honor and priveledge to host a special tribute to the life of Darrel “Dimebag” Abbott.

I went out to NYC Thursday at 9:30 PM on a redeye to do this, and during the period since then, I have had a good amount of time to reflect on my own life.

I realized how fortunate I am, and have been to have met some of you, and in some cases become friends with many of you.

What is bothering me is the people who I have not been able to meet, or worse, have met and ended up not being friends with. There are many.

I would like to, in honor of Darrel's life, learn from him and how many friends he apparently had made.

Over my career I have a lot of cleaning up to do on my side of the street as well as letting things go, for once and for all; I need to apologize to many people and also to forgive and quit holding grudges.

Having said that, if there is something I did to you or someone you know, please give me the opportunity to make this right.

To Slayer and Metallica: I am sorry for whatever I may have done in the past and wish to make it right, to put it behind us. Please let me know how and when we can talk this out.

To previous bandmembers and managers: I say the same to you.

To all the Megadeth/Metallica fans: from this day forward, there will never be another unkind word from my mouth perpetuating this silly 22 year old feud.

And to heavy metal fans around the world: I am going to emulate Dimebag by being more like him; more friendly, and more interested in your lives too, I promise.

I am grateful to have been asked to come in this hour of darkness to represent us all as we come together and heal as a worldwide music community, and I would be a fraud if I didn't say I need to do more to better “represent.”

Thank you in advance for your forgiveness and for your support,

Dave Mustaine"

Emulate=Strive to equal or match, especially by imitating (Webster's Dictionary).

Emulate + Firendly and Interested=Typical A$$hole Dave. You just gotta love him. Just be yourself Dave. A little late to change that reputation.

if he puts his money where his mouth is maybe he can change and stop being such a bastard. if not, when he goes, there will be a lot of people saying "hey, who cares? he was a dick anyway"

seeing someone as talented and cool and infinitely respected as dime go down for no reason, to see all the outpouring of emotion and praise for dime probably made dave look at all the dumb shit he has done and said and probably made him feel pretty small.

Actually, I bet Dave didn't even consider what kind of reaction the public would have had considering it would have been him gunned down.

Personally, I think Dave's attitude sux. Or at least that is what I gather from the interviews and stuff I have read.

On the other hand, I would imagine he knows the ins and outs of the music biz and would make a great producer/promoter if he ever gives up his singer/lead guitarist job.

About the concerts..

I saw Megadeth and Suicidal at Cincinnati Gardens back in the early 90's, not sure which tour.

Suicidal wiped the stage with Megadeth, although Megadeth did have Cincinnati Red's pitcher Rob Dibble come out and play guitar on Anarchy in the UK, plus commanded some drunk chich to flash her boobs for the cameras with the whole stadium dark and the spot lights on her.

Good job there Dave! :D

I saw Slayer and Testament at the save venue on the Seasons tour and that show ruled, although I was thrown out in the middle of Mandatory Suicide, my favorite Slayer song at the time...

Another great show was Danzig, Suicidal, Metallica. Killer show, but again, Suicidal mopped the stage with Metallica & Danzig.

S.T. was one of the best thrash bands ever.. no doubt about it.

Its funny how all you people who dont know him call him an asshole. About 5 years ago during Mardi Gras, I was hangin outside of a bar waitin for my girlfriend, when I struck up a conversation w/ this dorky lookin guy in a baseball hat drinkin coke. We started talkin bout music and he mentioned that he was in a band.

Anyway, long story short, it was Dave and he was totally laid back(no star trip) and we ended up hangin out the rest of the night. Super genuine NICE guy.

Not into metal at all, but I was impressed w/ his take on music in general.

Well, like you said, none of us have had the chance to meet him.

We just read his interviews, and usually he sounds like a jerk.

I have a lot of respect of the guy despite his attitude.

Keep in mind that I also think that Pete Rose belongs in the baseball hall of fame, and that Mike Tyson belongs in the boxing hall of fame.

Basically, I think that your attitude or personal life should not tarnish your professional accomplishments. The two have nothing to do with one another in most cases.

I know where you guys are comin from. Pete Thownsend is a prime example. He is such a pompous ass in all the interveiws, but prolly a str8 up cat if I met him.
