Thoughts on this distortion sound?

on second listen its actually a bit too bassy and it sounds like you're running a chorus pedal or something? doesn't sound like it would be good for palm muting, but like i said before.. might not be bad for slow laid back music.

I'll take into account that it's too bassy. That's one thing I don't want. I'll adjust it on the amp end instead of EQ'ing it out later. No, I'm not running a chorus pedal or anything.

the mono file you uploaded just sounds like digital distortion when i play it in winamp. either winamp sucks or whatever program you exported it in sucks.

I used Sound Forge and exported in mono directly to MP3. Maybe there's something wrong with the Sound Forge export. Maybe I should convert to mono wav first.

I am going to aggree that it sounds kind of flat. What mics are you using? Is it just me or does it sound like a good deal of room coloration in there too?

What do you mean by flat? The note or the actual tone/sound? If you mean the note itself, it's a Db...haha.

I've been trying to come up with a good distortion sound...a good combination of amps, placement of those in the stereo field, etc.

Just wanted to get some thoughts, suggestions, whatever.

* Get an amp that sounds really kickass.

* Point a mic at it.

* Record.

Though not as in below the attempted pitch point.
That's what I heard when I played it. SORRY if that doesn't resemble what you heard, recorded, converted.
Having read on I find I'm not on my Pat Malone in that estimation.
I'd say that means the combo didn't really achieve its aim in recorded terms.
