actually I've had the same problem before.

I don't know man...I would need a more of a sample before I would feel comfortable commenting.....anything besides one chord?

No. I haven't recorded anything else yet. I figured something short and sweet would work. Just wanted some feedback on the general recorded sound itself. Not a "how's my tone" type of thing.

yeah it's pretty hard to comment on just hearing one chord. You really should have recording a riff played a few times through. From what I heard it sounded good. What amps and mics did you use? what about mic placement?

sounds good if you're playing very slow music with chord changes every 20 seconds

i was only half kidding, i don't know how well it would work with a faster song, but its got lots of depth for a slower moody song

pretty much everything sounds better in stereo....

But shouldn't it sound better than this? I mean, the mono clip I posted is just nasty....

In mono you get the sounds with that tiny bit of delay & no spatial aspects to give clues. So it sounds pretty flat & lifeless. I'd like to be able to hear the sep tones that combine to make the final one - It may be the parts are greater than the whole.

Did you listen to the mono clip? Just curious. Because your description doesn't sound anything like what the clip sounds like. Flat and lifeless don't even begin to capture the sound of the mono file. It sounds like....garbage. It's not really a guitar type sound at all.

As for the stereo file and the parts being greater than the whole...that's really subjective I guess. Depends on what you like. And to me, the parts are not greater than the whole.

Need to add more than one chord. PLay a bar from the tune you are going to record. It will give a better idea of how you are going to apply it. Seems a bit bassy to me but it depends on the genre that you are playing.

Sounds like the beginning chord to a 6 feet under song, aside from hearing some nasty triplets, and kick ass shreddign i couldnt tell u much more than that.

Sorry

I was actually afraid that it might be a bit bassy.

Do they always start off with a D chord or something? Because that's all it is....

Yea, D or a low A, six feet under isnt as talanted as Canibal Corpse is for guitar parts, mind you i dont like corpse grinders vocals, but o well, no one can be the Chris Banres of the good old days.

Your chord has the same kind of distortion resonence as they did too, if you did some palm muting with fast picking, and showed some of the higher tap harmonics etc used for solos, I could geta better idea of the sound as a whole (dymaic range frequencey response etc)

I am going to aggree that it sounds kind of flat. What mics are you using? Is it just me or does it sound like a good deal of room coloration in there too?

What do I know, I a moron

on second listen its actually a bit too bassy and it sounds like you're running a chorus pedal or something? doesn't sound like it would be good for palm muting, but like i said before.. might not be bad for slow laid back music.
the mono file you uploaded just sounds like digital distortion when i play it in winamp. either winamp sucks or whatever program you exported it in sucks.
