its my first time using my equipment. i really need some new mics.

I recorded it all with an mxl 990, 991, and a carvin cm50 (dynamic)

for drums i overheaded with the 991, kick with the 990, cm50 at for the snare/hi hat.

i really suck at drums, and this was more of a recording test than a great performance.

all of this went to an old mixer, panning the snare to the right, overhead to the left (it was more left to pick up the cymbal and tom, and to make it natural when i panned, and the kick to the center.

acoustic was recorded 990 off axis at the hole pointing toward the 12th fret, 991 at the neck.

electric was with the cm50 at the center of the speaker, and 990 doing room micing, though i wonder what the 991 would sound like.

the bass was direct, giving a peak of highs to make it fit the style of the song, and i put a C1 compressor on it.

the vocals were with the 990 with a pop filter.

for cheap cheap gear, and a lowsy drummer, it sounds alright. my friend sang (it's her song) and played acoustic. i played electric, drums, bass, and the added acoustic parts at the end.

i think i could have played with the snare/hat eq slightly, and upped the kick volume. i wish i could multitrack to do some real editing with the drums, but i can't yet.

You need to post it somewhere or get a better delivery system. Am I supposed to sign in or something?

i dont see the need for new mics, better mixing maybe...
quite a hassle to listen to the song, but it was neat and kinda crazy trippy...

sign in? no

i don't even need an account to upload.

Your file is available for download:
Rachel's song2.mp3 (2540 KB)

then a button says download.

not that difficult

I'm pretty good with computers. I listen to about 100 songs a week here, I clearly see a download button. Ummm, I aint a-hearin no tunes.

It aint working. Soundclick works every time.....

Works for Me!

I liked it! I had a hard time hearing the lyrics in the mix during the more loud part of the song, the first half, but the latter part that was slow was good. What was that effect you used for vocals, it seemed to move across from one ear to the other ear. Anyway, I liked it, very original.

The link doesn't stream.
More people will listen if it streams & they don't have to download then play.

i doubled the voice, electric guitar, and acoustic.

the panning effect may have just been her singing softer on one of the takes for a bit
