This should be safe, right?

I just finished setting up for a session tomorrow. After the band left, I figured a way to get a couple more inputs happening, so I decided to put a condensor on each of the guitar combos. (Right now I have an EV 757 on one and the e609s on the other). The problem is that the amps are in a different room from the drums, and my mic cables aren't long enough to reach the snake box without doubling them.

Now, the question - will it be safe to run phantom through doubled mic cables? The cables are in good shape, but I've never tried this before.
 
Of course, extending balanced cables doesn't effect anything, at least not until you reach rediculous lengths.
 
It's just two 20 footers, so I guess that means yes?

Not a problem we do it at the school all the time. Mostly because there only one room in the building that sounds decent.

40 feet? Sheesh. I'm running phantom power that far through Belden miniature communication cable for my drum kit overheads... a single 22 AWG twisted pair, aboud the same total size as one wire pulled from a lamp cord....

You should have no trouble whatsoever with phantom power at that distance with anything remotely resembling real mic cables.... :D
 
An extra 20 ft. probably wouldn't be much of a problem even with unshielded cables as long as you don't run them right alongside any power cables or step on them too many times.
 
dgatwood and Dani Pace - Thanks for your added confirmation. Everything went fine - in fact the band was almost pissing their pants at how good the guitars sounded!!!
