Newbies, welcome to the forum. Before you jump into posting new threads, feel free to use the search button this site provides. Their have been a lot of topics posted here from many knowledgeable people who are interested in the same thing. In the long run it will be easier to navigate through all the knowledge this site has to offer if their are fewer threads of the same thing. In short, if you have a question do some searching then if you can't find what your looking for then post a new thread. Avoid posting threads like what mic should I buy, or, ETC ETC If it's a general question the chances of it being posted are very likely.

Sticky Sticky Sticky.
But newbies wont know to look at the sticky:confused:

Should change the title to "this is the best mic for rap vocals for under 10$"

Just send it as a message to every new person who signs up.

Of course there's an excellent sense of logic to that. But in actuality you're simply setting yourself up to be part of the 2008 HR Generation (your joining year) that will, somewhere in the 2011-14 time period, become saturated with the repetitive thread topics, cease posting in the on-topic forums, and only post with others of your antiquated HR generation in the non-recording-oriented Cave. It's an endless cycle.:D

i think the real NOOB! newbies find stuff thats not sticky quicker!

by that i mean the people who sign up for a few posts to find out how to connect there interface or microphone then are never heard from again.

even if they see the sticky regarding mics, computers, rigs ect they would still rather post a more personal question then read an FAQ and have to decypher how to use that information.

im all for noobs reading guides like tweakheads because in the long run if your going to stay in recording music for a few years, your going to have to learn to basics anyway.

BUT

i have to say, as someone who is still learning about how different sometimes complex equipment works, in a whole range of areas mind you (on this forum and others). its SOOOOO annoying to be told to use the search function because somebody wrote a basic FAQ on the subject your asking about, when you have a specific problem your seeking help with.

the newbies are here to learn and to ask questions, as am i, and we need to keep that personal touch that made this forum feel like a such good place to be for me when i signed up.

the search function is a wonderful thing, but lets not make it the main way of helping newbies just because the subjects have been gone through a few years ago in a similar thread. just because the information is there, it doesnt mean they can understand it.

maybe some dont agree but im all for the, "what do you think of this mic" or "what is best for my setup" because every person here is different and everyone has an individual problem, i happen to enjoy giving whatever help im capable of to someone, even if that involves doing some quick research for them, and linking them to a source, or generally going out of my way to answer some "stupid" question they might have.
most of the time that is! :D

as long as a noob poster has taken the time to properly describe there situation, in more then one line saying like "need help with my acoustics, rooms 10x11, thanks!" and has provided the information need to properly help them, i think we should all do our best to actually answer their questions instead of just pointing at the search function.

Or if they were serious they would get off of their ass and do some reading. I read tons and tons and tons of stuff and took notes on everything before even thinking of coming to this site. And ever after getting here I was incredibly reluctant to ask questions.
There are times when things can only be learned through experience rather then being spoon fed to you and I learned that the hard way and I'm glad I did.
Of course I still have much to learn, but knowledge has to be earned, not handed to you.

im not disagreeing with that if you read my post properly

i myself have a few notebooks full of stuff that i constantly forget, i only got my digidesign 003 around a week ago and ive been writing notes on how to use pro tools and the 003 for the last 2 or 3 months.

your free to think that people should learn "the hard way"

but i would have very much enjoyed and appreciated some more help then i got years ago on other forums, so thats how i approach the situation when im answering other peoples posts.

i have never spoon fed people information and i never expected it given to me.

may i ask why you feel this knowledge has to earned, rather then LEARNED

I never said you were disagreeing, and it was a long and boring post sooo....

and you're question doesn't make any sense. it implies that knowledge earned isn't actually knowledge learned when in fact it is knowledge learned whether you earned it or not.

now if you had asked me why I think it's better for knowledge to be earned rather then just handed to you, I would say because you are more likely to hold onto and cherish knowledge earned whether it be through experience or whatever else. But hey, that's just me... and what do I know, right?

sorry if my posts bore you? not that that has anything at all to do with it, feel free to skip over them and not leave a reply next time. :D

if you cant understand what im saying, then you just cant understand it.

your more then welcome to make people "earn" the right for your knowledge or anybody elses if theyll let you be the judge of that.

and i dont really see how you could cherish knowledge anymore if you had to "earn" it, is there some scale to measure something like that, or maybe im missing something here?

if you have knowledge of something, SOME people like to share that knowledge with other people, free of charge, just because thats the person they are.
some people keep it too themselfs, like you do im guessing.

why are you even on the forum if your going to make people (noobs in particular) earn your knowledge, or are you just here to "earn" that knowledge from someone else?

can you see where im going with this?

Feel free to just not suck in the first place ;)

I simply expressed my opinion that it's better for someone to learn through experience rather then being spoon fed. If you wanna get all butt hurt over it then be my guest.
I'm not gonna argue my point with you because simply put, you're ignorant.

ahh, like always with you kids! get some well made points shoved in your face and curl up into a ball, and lower yourself to the point where you chuck insults at someone you dont know!
classic!

have a nice day there king

There is a 0% chance this thread will become a sticky. In fact, I should delete it just because you had the nerve to ask. Use the tube thread!
