Plus it seems the Chinese mic factories will even make you counterfeit mics if you want.

Do ya s'ppose they'd notice, if ya sent 'em one of THEIR counterfits to counterfit? :p

Actually it is more like a stock AVL. There is only one or two factories making this ribbon mic and branding it for Nady, ADK, Apex, Thomann, (every Ningbo Distributor) and anyone else who has it or wants to buy 500 or more can get it. Most microphone companies in Ningbo are assemblers. They make nothing, They either buy the mic already built or buy the parts and put it together. Either way, it all comes out in parts or assembled from the same factory....

No matter how you slice it, it is the same mic, a little different body shape with attached cord....

I just noticed Alan said "There is only one or two factories making this ribbon mic and branding it for Nady, ADK, Apex, Thomann," <snip>.

Note: Alan said... "one or two factories".

I don't know... but does it seems a little strange that there may be two different mic factories making the same mic?

And if you haven't seen these threads yet... check it out.

I guess you have to know when you're buying from a reputable company who designs their own stuff then, don't you?

You're welcome... like I said... who knows what your really buying these days with all the rebaged, counterfeit and etc type Chinese made mics on the market today. :(

well, in one way, it proves that you really have to just trust your own ears and opinions of the stuff, after all that's what we have in the end, our own opinion on if we like the results or not. I mean, if you can't trust that a thousand bucks won't really buy you ten times the sound, then you must trust your ears.

Yeah, you're right... but none the less, distribution companies and etc trying to trick us still sucks. Anyway... at least now you really know what is happening... so keep an eye open, and hold on to any oldies but goodies you have. :) Don.
