Turned on my interface (Tascam US-800), kicked on Reaper.

I'm working on a mix, so turned the mixer view n of the song, hit play and after 5 seconds got a loud BUZZ in the headphones (no music, although it was playing, and I could see the volume bars moving). Buzz was controlled by the headphone volume control.
I stopped the playback, turned off the Tascam. Reaper would not play (no device connected, I guess).
Turned off Reaper, turned on Tascam, kicked on on Reaper, everything was fine.

I have had that happen a couple times with my US 1641. Seems somehow USB connection went to sh*t. Computers are like those girls you meet after the nudie bar closes. Fun for a while, but know they will screw you over eventually.

Something quite similar has happened to me a couple of times... Restarting usually solves the problem. No idea why though.

have a tascam us1800 and reaper, haven't had it for that long but it's never happened with me. Sounds like it is a fixable problem which is not a serious thing to worry about though :)

Yeah, I have the same set up as you. I think it's happened once or twice, but it never worried me. I don't think I even had to re-start my computer, just REAPER.
