Good brand name but dont expect a lot of low end with 5" woofers. Its a good start! :cool:

For about 50 more pezzutos, you can get the KRK ST8 passives with an 8" woofer. I have a pair and, for the price, they do a good job. The ST8's will serve you until you're ready to move up and you won't have a hard time selling them.

You can run your speakers through an integrated amp, like if you have a stereo amp for discs and tape?

Or, maybe a small Haffler? I've been using an integrated amp by Yam for a long time. It will handle my two tape decks, radio, CD, two sets of speakers, one of which is my KRK ST8 monitors, and has a clear through switch so the amp doesn't color the stuff I record. But, any stereo amp that has speaker connections will work for the KRKs--borrow one from an old girlfriend?
