hi
I got really pissed today, I've been recording some guitars to a piece of midi, 3 hours of work. I saved it, and some time after system crashed. Now when I open it - THERE IS NO AUDIO, none. Not even a message that it cannot be downloaded, or missing.
Damn, I checked Wave folder, there is some content but I can't open it from here. What the hell is happening? Anyone knows?
Maybe I am in the Matrix ;-)?

You don't say what version of Cakewalk you're using. I used to get this problem with the earlier versions up until V8. I went into the habbit of saving the file in two different folders. It happend often that the whole file was erased! Sorry, I never found a remedy for this. I'm using Cakewalk Home Studio 2002 for the last 6 months and has not encounter this problem so far.

Try using Cakewalk Audio Finder... Helps alot.

rescued

I actually get those waves through SounForge and palced them again in Cakewalk (i use v 8.0) through insert wave. Takes time, but I rescued my work.
Anyway I think I know the answer now. I was using some midi in midi1 format or sth like that and saved my work into this. Well, it doesn't accept waves... now I always check the format of the file. If I choose .wrk then it is okay.
Anyway it is a mess here with this crap. It should be some warning there, that Your waves won't be recorded in this format. I don't think in newer version this problem is solved.
So if You are recording some waves (like the guitar in my case) using some midi taken from the web (I used some Bach's piece) that is not in Cakewalk format - make sure You change the format of that file, otherwise You'll get into trouble as I did.

Thanks for help guys.
