I just picked up the 3 CD set. I needed some music for the long ride home from a meeting.

Who the hell mixed it.
It sounds like the soundboard feed.

I would have to think the show was multitrack recorded with the all-star lineup. So it could have been mixed down at a later time.

Over all a great sounding CD but there are a lot of late or fast fades that are very noticeable, and a poor choice of re-verb.

Could it be that I am just learning to listen to music differently now?

lol. could be. im also finding myself listening to things differently now.

Well, perhaps it was multitracked, and *gasp* it wasn't overdubbed to hell, like many live albums.

When I tried (and failed) to multitrack my band for a live album/dvd, and only ended up with a 2-track of the vocal mics, there was an insane amount of bleed from all the other instruments, especially the drums.

I really don't know how you're supposed to do it in a live setting and not get an enormous amount of bleed.
