The thread is about "Is the Studio Projects B1 just an off-the-shelf 797 Audio CR1000... and if not, who is the design engineer(s)?

Don't you get it?

There are no CR1000's on the shelf!

It was designed for Studio Projects exclusively.

hey Rain Man, Gidge-Mo is next......

did you see the link I posted where Alan Hyatt answered your questioned? back in January?.......

"The B Series is my work and one of the engineers at 797. Together we did this mic and I am very proud of it. 797 offers a similar looking mic, but only sell it in China. "

who's next?

DJL,

This is irrelevant and silly. BUT unless I can't read, it appears that Alan answered this very question squarely. I quote (Emphasis in caps):
"THE B SERIES IS MY WORK AND ONE OF THE ENGINEERS AT 797. TOGETHER WE DID THIS MIC AND I AM VERY PROUD OF IT. 797 OFFERS A SIMILAR LOOKING MIC, BUT ONLY SELL IT IN CHINA. THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING LIKE IT FOR ANYONE ELSE. The B Series is quite a good product, and I expect it turn quite a few heads in a couple of weeks when they hit the stores. The TB-1 is spectacular. In fact, it is so good, we have to lower the price of the T3. Beggining April 1st, the T3 will be lowered to $799.99 retail, and about $599.99 on the streets. At $299.99 street, the TB-1 is untouchable.

So pardon the hype, all of it is my opinion, but we have been there with me before on this, and I proved to be right, so hopefully, I will be again..."

See this post https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47880&highlight=797 and be done with it. It's seriously getting tiring to watch you take needless stabs at Alan Hyatt.

Thanks Rev E, that's what I wanted to know... where did you read this at... please post a link. And thanks again.

Btw DJL,
Do you know who designed any other mic? If not, why the need to find out specifically about SP mics? Why not ask the same question about any other mic?

I posted a link to that quote in which it was the answer to YOUR question you dumb son of a bitch.......

i bet you're an excellent driver........

Gidge:

Good info. Thanks.

So is the Studio Projects B1 just an off-the-shelf 797 Audio CR1000 mic that Alan just added a mod too and renamed it the B1... or did Alan Hyatt and the unnamed 797 Audio engineer design the B1 together from scratch?

I do remember the use of the MXL2001 as a Meek mic some time back, Id imagine that as unique as the SP mics are there are a few lines out there that look simmiler.

and the redneck says "the box says 3 to 5 years and it only took me a month".........

Hey Alan, next time you read this thread again, maybe you can answer the question. So is the Studio Projects B1 just an off-the-shelf 797 Audio CR1000 mic that you just added a mod too and renamed the B1... or did you and the unnamed 797 Audio engineer design the B1 together from scratch? And if you and the unnamed 797 Audio engineer did design the B1 together from scratch... what parts(s) of the B1 did you design?

Oh and if the unnamed 797 Audio engineer who design the B1 reads this thread... please post your name so you get some credit for your design.

...and the bartender says "Why the long face?".

Are you an excellent driver?

Go, Rain Man, go!

I've read through this thread and i'm still not sure what the purpose of it is. Are you (DJL), trying to find out whether or not there is another choice for buying a C1, B1 or T3? Would you prefer to purchase direct from 797 instead from PMI? Are you hoping to prove that PMI is making false claims when they say that these mics are their own designs? What is it that you hope to acheive here?

If the SP mics are identical to the 797 mics, does it really matter? Doesn't it still make sense to buy from PMI, with their reputation for great customer service?

If the mic sounds good to you, who cares what label it has on it? It's not like PMI is trying to hide the fact that 797 make the mics. They include 797's name on the mic.

The B1 costs $79. It is a very nice sounding mic. What's the problem?

Blessings, Terry
