one of the few songs that i have posted, that i actually wrote on piano,
this one is kinda spacy and trippy.....
based on a true story,
the imagery in the lyric is inspired by Cherokee lore.
i hope you enjoy it.

I can find fault with just about any mix, but you're making me work for it with this one. It's lush and full but not overfilled with sounds. It's clear but not harsh.

Let's see... The drums feel a bit more up front than the vocals. There's something metallic about the tone and they sound like they're in a warehouse type space whereas the guitar/vocals sound more ethereal. I feel like I want to take just a hint of 3-4kHz out of the snare/cymbals. Some of the cymbals seem to taper off kind of fast after a hit. And there's something about the kick, I'm not sure what. This may be a case for reverb on the kick, or a different sample with a longer sustain.

hey boulder,
yea, you know, i tried about 20 different kit pieces,
just never landed on one i really loved,
and had to settle on one to finish the project!!
LOL

the one thing i didn't try,
and that thing you mention about the vox and guitars having more space,
is putting just a delay on the drums.
that's what's mostly on the guitars and vox....

i've done delays on drums before, to great effect,
maybe i'll tweak this one that way.
thanks for listening

Sounds pretty good.
Some of the highs felt a little sibilant, but I might just have bad headphones.

I disagree with BSG on the drums. If anything, they're a little buried.

hey steve!
thanks for listening....

sibilence, even in bad headphones, is not a good thing.
HEHEH

of course, it'd be better to listen on good headphones.

the drums need to be set back, to create the right mood.
it's not a heavy song, the rhythm could almost be implied without the drums,
but i needed them for the polyrhythm.
and the chant style thing at the end...
