We'll see what others say, but it doesn't sound to me like you have enough low end.

Distorted guitars sound OK. There was a clean guitar that was out of tune.

I think the vox could be compressed a little harder and the overall level raised. Words here and there get tough to hear. Bit pitchy in spots. Nice singing voice tone-wise. Liked the screaming parts.

The mellower sections lasted a little too long. Made the song drag for me.

The vocals do need some compression or automation during the quiet spots in the beginning, they're EQ'd a bit too mid-rangy for my taste as well. A few clunkers pitch wise.

The recording is a bit bass light.

Otherwise sounds OK.

I only clicked on this because I found the title extremely funny :)

I too find this to be a little too light on bass in general. Not so much bass guitar which at times is quite clear, just overall lack of those lower frequencies throughout.

During the quieter sections, I lost the vocals at times so it might be good to bring them up a bit.

Guitars sound pretty cool, although the clean guitars in particular are kinda sour in spots...tuning?

Thin, irritating sound could be rescued by reducing hyped highs and easing back on all the lows you cut. Drumming hiccup at 1.24. Pitchy vocals, out of tune guitar. Bad speakers could explain the first problem, but not the others.

thank yas for theinsight, all of you, that definitely helped. I did cut a lot of bass.. the original mixes of this song were smothered with bass so this time around I did an extreme cut....indeed the clean guitar is kinda out... i can fix that..... i initially fixed it with autotune, but upon remixing, for some reason after upgrading my computer with an extra gig of ram... running the same amount of plugins was just not going as well before I upgraded.. ftw? anywhoo... this song was plagued with difficulties from the get go...

in terms of the vocals, the quiet vocals were recorded incredibly low... with a shitty dynamic mic and no preamp... so compressing it just increased the noise... so finding a way around that has been a bitch... on most songs I don't sing as quiet, so i rarely have this problem... blahh. its all quite fixable, if i can just get off my ass and do it...

just got my new monitors today.... lets see what happens. Thanks again.

as for the pitchy vocals... mehhh, i'll get the guitars in tune, but dammit, i'll sing in tune if it happens by accident :-D

got a pair of beringhers, i posted a thingy over in the random gear forum

So what about somebody who does it by accident? o.O

Same critiques as everyone else: pitchy guitars, vocals too quiet, quiet parts last a little to long.
The pitchy vocals aren't a huge deal to me. You do a pretty good job of owning the pitchiness, so it sounds like an intentional part of the song.

Hold on... 15 minutes? That is way too long for a song like this. I'd cut out everything between 4:40 and 13:00. 6 minutes is still probably pushing your luck, but it can work.
I'd also pan those leads towards the end a bit closer to the middle.

Having brought up the pitchy vocals, I still agree with this. At least to a large extent. I almost didn't mention it due to this reason. In many parts of the song he's pitchy like maybe Dylan or Neil Young. Pitchy, but a good kind of pitchy. But there were a few other spots where I thought it drifted into the "bad pitchy" category.

Yeah, exactly. But does the producer *realize* the vocals are pitchy and want it, or is it simply not getting heard? People who record at home are more susceptible to fooling themselves than pros. I mean, I didn't mind the minimal pitchiness of the vocal, but combined with the out of tune guitar and the bass light mix, the impression I got was 'this person needs to change some stuff'.

yeaaa i know i need to change things.. i'm working on it now.... the out of tune guitars was a product of laziness... actually autotune fixed it , but i opted to take it off because for some reason it was making my computer run sluggish... just gonna rerecord the guitars... the bass light mix... overcompensation for previously bass heavy mix... i can actually hear what is going on now though, so i'm gonna make this all happen proper this time. as for the vox.... i'll never be the best singer...as long as i feel it is a strong take that gets the point across, i don't care if a few notes are wrong. that said, in the age where auto tune is used to fix every bad singer, i feel it would be a breath of fresh air to proudly proclaim, I'm not perfect and this is rock. when i get around to finishing this, i'll repost. I may or may not cut it down, or at the least, i'll lengthen it accordingly and then cut it in to different tracks.
