the problem with studio monitors

when i didnt have studio monitors and my gaming multimedia speakers were all i had, my mp3s sounded good cause i didnt know any better. now that i listen to them with the monitors i hear everything that i didnt hear before and i end up saying "i hate the way the put that in the song." or "it'd be better if they did this instead of that" sometimes ignorance is bliss i guess

I'd say it's better monitors and improved listening skills. It's funny how the older we get the more our hearing decreases...but at the same time the more perfected our listening gets (notice, hearing vs. listening).
