I don't hate KISS, but other than "Revenge" (I LOVE "Spit"), I'm not a fan. And I think Rick Derringer played most of the tracks on that album anyway.
"God Gave Rock and Roll To You". Seriously? That tune is about as cringe-worthy as rock music gets.

.Actually, you're right. I had their frist album, with "Strutter", etc...It was pretty good. But at that time, I was such an Alice Cooper fan that I thought any band that wore make up was just copying him. I had trouble liking them simply because of that. 13 year old logic.
Fat chicks in metal bras would have been an improvement. This was just abysmal.
Dee Dee cared not one fuck about authenticity. He was rubbish. Joey did a reasonable job. The worst thing was when the song was counted in.. "wanchewtreefawww"....... there was a half-beat time-lag for the song to come in. I think the drummer was on fucking tramadol or something.I played a gig with a Ramones Trib tonight. They weren't too bad, but certain bits sucked. "Johnny" was great. He had a cheapo Mosrite clone that didn't sound too bad through his battered Marshall combo and he performed well - downstrokes all the way through for the record, Greg
Yeah, for a band that "couldn't play", they were tight as shit and a finely tuned, well-oiled machine. Very precise. Like military precision. It was amazing.
Well, Joey and Johnny, the singer and guitar player, ended up very rich when it was all said and done. They were original founding members, and Johnny ran the Ramones very strictly. It was his business. Joey too, but Johnny called the shots to get them going. In the 90s they started getting a ton of movie soundtrack deals, beer commercials, baseball teams would play their songs between innings, etc. Pop culture finally caught up to them, so they started cashing in. They never did anything un-Ramones-like though. I'd hear their songs in a beer commercial, and I was like, okay, at least it's beer. They never had Ramones tracks selling insurance or anything. But anyway, Johnny and Joey got rich. Johnny was super frugal an never spent any money and he retired loaded. Joey was very active in the very punk rock world of the stock market. Lol. The other less tenured, less invested Ramones didn't get the full benefits of being a founding Ramone, except for Dee Dee who was an original member and chief songwriter, even though he left in 89. So now that the key players are all dead, Johnny's wife and Joey's brother control the Ramones estate, and even though the two camps don't much care for each other, they're doing the legacy pretty good IMO.
