The New Tone Thread

Had the place to myself for a couple hours today, so I re-tracked the guitars on this with my HT-5, Greenback cab & SM57. Raised the volume on the guitars a little too, lemme know what you guys thing..........

Egnater Tweaker 15w head is on the way, so I should have some new tones in a few days......SoundClick artist: Minerman's Mix Check Page - page with MP3 music downloads

Miner...

I think your tone is pretty consistent amongs themselves! The second clip just sounds like the first with more guitar and little less drums. I think a guy would have to sit and actually examine the wave for differences on your performance to tell the two apart. Great job on capturing it twice in two different set ups.

Finally got the Egnater Tweaker 15w head today, along with a Boss Super OD-1....of course, it came after I left for work, but it's ok, I'm taking off tomorrow, so I'll have all day & evening to play around with it......

Pics & clips to come......

So far, I'm really impressed with this amp, & have only played through it for an hour or so. The jack on my Ibanez was screwy (fixed it though....), & I first thought I had gotten a bad tube or something was wrong with the amp, but I finally found the problem & took care of it (and yes, I was pretty close to being one of the most pissed off guys ever...)....

This amp just blows the HT-5 away, to me, there's no comparison, at all. Through my 1x12 Greenback cab, the highs I'd been missing with the Blackstar are there, all the switches & tone knobs make a real difference when dialing sounds in. Very impressed with the sound & versatility of this little amp......

Anyone wanna buy a Blackstar HT-5???:D Will most likely get rid of the HT-5 & use the funds from that for some speakers or another cab......

Even without the boost pedal, I'm really impressed with the T15, so far I'm really happy with it (hopefully it's not the "new" thing), & should only get better the more I use it/get used to it.....

The wife's still here, so it's time to push her out the door & move a little air for a while...:guitar:

Nice stuff, miner. Very nice indeed. You have a good touch and ear.

I really like the little Tweaker. Good little amp.

I thought I should add some new recordings I've done.

Here's Recuerdos de le Alhambra. I wanted to go for that old analog feel I always here on a John Williams recording, so I really cranked the "Wow and Flutter" knob on my Kramer Tape plugin

Here's a song without the plugin.

I still like me some Strat.
Well, it looks like its most of the way to a Strat.

Speaking of strats....I spent part of the day taking mine apart and shielding it. I bought some copper foil, conductive aluminum tape, and rubber cement (for gluing and sniffing) and went to town on the cavity and under the pickguard. Replaced some of the wiring with shielded wire that I had laying around. Re-grounded everything. The verdict.....it worked great! It still hums a little with the gain on the amp cranked, but it's markedly better. Huge improvement. The guitar sounds much cleaner and detailed overall. If I had to put a figure on it, I'd say it reduced the hum and buzz by 50-75%.

I also got two Greenbacks yesterday and X-patterned them in my 1960 cab with the G12T-75s.

Here's a quickie sample. First test with the shielded Strat and the Greenbacks.

miserpoop

Strat bridge pickup > Marshall JCM 900 MkIII > TC Electronics Flashback Delay in fx loop > 1960a Greenback > SM57 on-axis halfway to edge - no EQ or anything in DAW

Pres - 4
Bass - 7
Mid - 6
Treb - 4
Gain - 5
Master vol - 5

Sounds pretty great ..... I like the Flashback ..... it's there without seeming to inflict it's own sonics on the sound.
That's a really nice crunch right there!

and I just got an email from TC Electronics.
They have a free package of Toneprint delays including one tape delay and several others all for free right now and you'd have them available for that pedal so get over there and download that.

Sweet, thanks boob. I've never even tried the toneprint stuff.
here ya' go mang. I don't know if you need the link I got in the email so here's the page it took me to.

TC Electronic | Tape Echo campaign

the package is 'Echos of Brilliance' I think.

It really looks like it might be worthwhile to download.
Then you'd have 'em and could put them into your pedal whenever you wished.
