I always head over to my local GC on Memorial Day and check out the deals. ...and yes I've seen some gear at reasonable prices, but it's never really what I want, or I don't know if it's a good deal until I check prices later on. And so I leave with little or nothing and get the standard "What!..you couldn't find anything Dude!".

So GC dosen't carry SP mics and I'm thinking I might like a B1 or C1.... I only have an sm57. I also have a single channel JoeMeek pre amp...so I also need another mic pre. What should I be looking for? I have a $300 budget. I need to mic my boogie amp ( guitars= SG and Strat) and yamaha acoustic and occasional (male) vocals.

......If I see a Fender Champ for $100 or a Martin D16 for $600, then I'm going to have some serious explaining to do!

Hmm, I'd look for an MD421 for the boogie amp, and a MXL603S for the Yamaha acoustic... and audition mics until you find one you like for your vocals.

a champ for $100? you must be talkin' bout the new ones... i wouldn't bother brooooo.

for $300 i'd go with a SP vbt-1, and then throw all the decent cheap condensors in a hat and pick one. actually, i'd pry save a lil' more and grab a nice dynamic, or a little more and get a condensor worth using.

Here are some things I'm looking at adding...

Toft ATC2 -- We got a pretty informative review up at Mojo Pie... http://www.mojopie.com/atc2.html

Audio-Technica AT4047 -- Tried one out a few times recently. A workhorse and then some...

Avenson STO-2 -- These are omni small condenser mics. They are musical. They're made down in Austin, TX, I do believe. Very highly recommended.

I'm wishing for:

- pair of md441s
- brauner phantom C

A used 3630 (for my ghetto P.A./monitoring rig)
M-Audio Octane 8 for drum miking
A pair of monitors (most likely BX5/SP5)
An MD421 (damned old band got it in the split)
Canare cable and Neutrik connectors for my studio

And while we're at it...

A clean basement for my stuff :)

I'm working on that last part today (or at least I should be)...

This years's gear excursions are over budget already.

The rest of the year should be focused on getting a different car and chipping at the mortgage.

Oh yeah... like I wasn't looking at that Microtech Gefell M930 in the music store today...

Great River MP-2NV.

i'm really dyin' for a re20 or an sm7... gaaaaaaahhhhhh. oh and who doesn't want more pres?

I'm not short of mics at the moment ... but my list has one big big big entry - a good set of monitors. Like ... Genelec 8040A at the cheapest, but maybe some of the ADAM or Dynaudio things that are around. It's only one line on the list, but it's an expensive line!

But a really good acoustic will come first, the Taylors I've played are great live but a bit dead acoustically, so I'm trying to find a good balance.

Just mics? I want a pair of AT4033s, a CAD M179, another e609 Silver, and some 421s.

Beyond that, some more outboard processing (compression and delay/reverb primarily), a pair of ANF-10s, and a soldering iron so I can make all the cabling I need. And then I want some decent rooms to put it all in.
